Last month, Greece celebrated female entrepreneurship on November 19 as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week. The event in Athens included seven-minute knowledge shots, inspirational and encouraging video-messages as well as speeches from prominent figures from Greece and abroad. The event was co-organized by Militos Consulting S.A. and knowl Social Enterprise, under the auspices of the General Secretariat for Gender Equality, Hellenic Ministry of Interior. Over 400 people participated in the event.
Vasso Kollia, general secretary for gender equality, Ministry of Interior, Katerina Savvaidou, public revenues general secretary, Ministry of Finance, Mylaide Stoumbou, Microsoft Hellas, Dimitris Tsagkaris, FAO Economics and Maria Bacodimou, TV presenter, journalist and entrepreneur, are just a handful of the speakers that offered practical advice for women entrepreneurs.
Olga Stavropoulou, president of Militos Consulting S.A., stated that “Greece celebrated [female entrepreneurship] through an innovative campaign with impressive impact that continues its activity on awareness, knowledge sharing and women empowerment throughout the year... Prominent personalities shared inspiring messages through video including Jonathan Ortmans,president of Global Entrepreneurship Week, Dora Bakoyiannis, parliament member, Peggy Antonakou, general manager of Microsoft Hellas, Christina Souzi, Skai TV, and Rodi Kratsapresident of the C. Karamanlis Institute for Democracy.
The event was supported by OESYNE - Federation of Hellenic Associations of Young Entrepreneurs, a GEW host organization, the Representation of the European Commission in Greece, the European Parliament Information Office in Athens, the Sector of Women Managers and Entrepreneurs (Hellenic Management Association) and the Hellenic Unit of the European Commission Network of Mentors for Women Entrepreneurs (Business Mentors).
